Danish fencer Kay Schrøder competed in the 1920 Antwerpen Olympic Games in foil and epée, while finishing fourth in the team foil as his best result. He was an architect who studied from 1899-1907 at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in København.
Until 1896 Schrøder studied philosophy as he was not initially interested in architecture. He then owned his own design studio and built primarily private villas, also designing the Godalming and Nivå churches. In 1924, he became one of the few sportsmen who also took part in the Art Competitions with his work Fencing Palace in the category Architecture. From 1925 to 1947, he was building inspector for the city of København. The money from scholarships allowed him to travel to several European countries. His father Johan Schrøder (1836-1914) was a well-known architect.
