Cyril Simey was educated at Winchester College, England and at Oxford University. In Oxford he was a member of the Oxford University Fencing Club. Cyril Simey died by drowning on 19 September 1952 when he was reported missing from his yacht in the English Channel. Between the end of the World War II and his death he spent most of his time in Nigeria working as a civil servant.
