Dmytro Sharpar took up figure skating in 2011 and, with partner Anastasiya Pobizhenko, he won medals at the Ukrainian junior national championships in 2015. The following year they won silver in the pairs at the national championship and were selected to represent their country at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics. There, they were 10th and last in the pairs. Sharpar ended his competitive career shortly thereafter and turned professional, performing in ice shows in Ukraine. After the Russian invasion of Ukraine that began in 2022, he served with the military and was killed in defense of the city of Bakhmut on January 23, 2023, at the age of only 25.
