There are many references to him in the issues of L’Escrime et le Tir magazine in the 1920s and 1930s. A few of the early ones have him fencing in competitions in the Netherlands but most of them list him as an official at fencing competitions and then about his work as a Secretary General of the FIE (the IGB for fencing) and being named a Member of Honor of the FIE for his work. There is this death notice for him in the December 1953 issue of L’Escrime Française: “Nous apprenons Ia mort de M. Joseph SCHOON, Membre d’Honneur de la F. l.E., dont il fut le Secrétaire Général aux côtés de G. VAN ROSSEM, de 1925 à 1929.” It gives his given name as Joseph but the description describes Jacob. So far, no additional information about his birth or death has been found.
