Otto Greter of Zürich was one of the top Swiss fencers for much of the 1940s and 1950s, having won a national title in all three fencing disciplines: foil, epee, and sabre. However, it was the latter in which he specialized, winning the national sabre title on six occasions. Greter was selected twice to compete at the Olympic Games as a member of the fencing delegation, competing in the individual and team sabre events. Unfortunately, on both occasions, the Swiss team did not advance past their preliminary pools; his best individual result came at Helsinki 1952 where he was eliminated in the quarter finals. He continued to compete in domestic competitions until he was 58-years-old. His wife, Olga, was also an active fencer throughout the 1950s and 1960s.
