Roger Stirn of Genève was the Swiss foil champion in 1940. He was a longtime member of the fencing circles in Genève, competing from the mid-1930s to 1950s. The highlight of his career came in 1948 when he was selected for the Swiss Olympic fencing delegation for the London Olympics, as a member of the foil team. He once again represented his country at the World Championships in Monte Carlo, Monaco in 1950.
Stirn was also an active archer and member of the Noble Exercise of the Bow (Le Noble Exercice de l’Arc) in Genève where he held the title Chevalier. He died after a long illness in 1971 at the age of 56.
