Biography

Swedish épée fencer Ivar Genesjö won medals at national and international tournaments during the 1950s and 1960s. Genesjö first represented the Stockholm Police team at the Swedish championships, winning gold in the team event in 1959 and 1960. He then joined the FFF club in Stockholm where he won three more team golds (1964–65, 1967). From 1959 to 1963 he competed at four editions of the World Fencing Championships, winning a team bronze in 1961, followed by a team silver in 1962. In 1964 Genesjö was part of the Swedish team that competed at the Tokyo Olympics where they finished fourth after losing the bronze medal match to France on a tiebreak.
