Biography

Gunnar Lindholm’s father was a baker. Gunnar served as a second lieutenant in the Norrland Artillery Regiment. At the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm, he competed in the individual sabre event but was eliminated in round one.

Soon thereafter, he went to Santiago de Chile, where he was hired by the Government for the Naval Academy. There, he married Elena Isidora Emilia Beatriz Valdés Hidalgo, who died as early as 1918. In 1920, Lindholm married his second wife, Elena Isidora Emilia Beatriz Huneeus Lavín, a local woman of Scandinavian descent. The couple had one daughter. Later, he owned a farm more than 100 km south of Santiago. The family immigrated to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, in 1949.
