Ray Dutcher was US Champion in the épée in 1918 and 1920, the second title qualifying him for the Olympic team in 1920. Fencing was not Dutcher’s primary sport. He competed in Indian club swinging in gymnastics, an event that was held at the 1904 and 1932 Olympics. Dutcher was US Champion in Indian clubs in 1912-14, 1917-18, 1920, and 1922-28. He also won the Metropolitan AAU title in the event in 1912-18, 1922-24, 1926-29, and 1931. Dutcher competed for the New York Athletic Club.
