Olguiz Rodríguez led Uruguay to a basketball bronze medal at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. He also coached the national team at the 1959 World Championship and the 1963 Pan American Games. In league play he coached Capitol, Peñarol, Aguada, Bohemios, and Tabaré. Rodríguez later went into administration, serving as technical coordinator at the 1967 World Championship and as sports manager of the Uruguayan Basketball Federation.
