Silvano Ambrosioni was an Italian baseball player and coach. He played for Lodi and Milano Baseball 1946, with whom he won two league titles and two Champions Cups. Overall, he played five seasons in Serie A, with a career batting average of .241.
Ambrosioni’s family was always closely linked to baseball in Milano. His father Ottavio was a manager in the 1960s and 70s, as was his brother Sergio, while his nephew Alessandro was first a player and later a coach.
Sivano later twice coached the Italian national baseball team, from 1975-78 and then from 1985 to 2000. In his almost 20 years with the Azzurri he led them to four European titles in 1977, 1989, 1991, and 1997, and a fourth place at the 1998 World Championship.
Ambrosioni died after a short illness at age 62 in Aosta, where he moved after he finished coaching. The Italian Baseball Softball Federation (FIBS) retired number 7 from the national squad in his honor, and in 2005 he was inducted into the Italian Baseball Hall of Fame.
