Dale Brand was a wrestler who made the 1936 US Olympic team but served only as an alternate in bantamweight freestyle, and did not compete. Brand wrestled at Cornell College, where he was the 1937 NCAA champion, although he later earned a graduate degree at Drake University. He spent four years in the military during World War II, serving as a medical corpsman with the 3rd Armored Division.
