Steen Blicher was the son of Steen Steensen Blicher, who represented Denmark in football at the 1920 Antwerp Olympics. The younger Blicher took up the sport at the age of 12 and eventually had a substantial national career with KFUMs Boldklub, from 1943 through 1946, and then Akademisk Boldklub from 1947 through 1959. With the latter team, he won national championships in 1947, 1951, and 1952. He also had a brief, eight-game tenure with the Danish national team from 1951 through 1952. His most notable international appearance came at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, where Denmark defeated Greece in the qualifying round and Poland in round one, before losing to Yugoslavia in the quarter-finals. Blicher played in all three matches.
Blicher continued to participate in football until he was 60, after which he focused on tennis. He practiced the latter sport into his 80s, and won a national championship in 2002 in the over-75 division. By career he was a gymnastics teacher and also had a brief, two-year tenure in the military.
