Goalkeeper Günter Wienhold was a member of the West German football squad beaten 3-2 by East Germany in their deciding second group stage game at the 1972 München home Olympics.
Wienhold won eight West German amateur caps, all in 1972. Domestically he played 69 matches in the Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt from 1972-78, and helped them to win the West German Cup in 1975. With SC Freiburg, he played 205 more matches in the 2. Bundesliga from 1978-85. Wienhold later worked as a self-employed representative.
