Albert Fernand-Renault studied in Paris and exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français. He was assigned to the Post-Impressionists and mainly painted landscapes and female nudes. He exhibited at the Salon of French Artists in Paris, where he received a silver medal in 1928 and a gold medal in 1931.
Fernand-Renault had a talent for painting landscapes, many being views of Brittany, but he also painted some very beautiful female nudes. As a Post-impressionist, he painted with large brushstrokes, broad and generous, in pastel tones, his hand was safe and the composition was built up without hesitation. Occasionally, a couple of characters could be seen walking within his compositions, giving the peaceful image of Brittany.
