After the end of the war Mexican football midfielder Alfredo Córdoba played for the national team. In 1948 Córdoba was part of the squad that competed in the football tournament at the London Olympics. The Mexican team, however, only played one match, losing 5–3 to Korea in the first round of the competition. Córdoba was 94-years-old when he died in September 2019.
