Piet Kraak was the primary goalkeeper of the Dutch national team in the post-War years, winning a total of 32 caps through 1952, adding one more in 1959 at the age of 38. He competed in two Olympic Games during that period, but the Dutch were eliminated in the early stages in both tournaments. At the time, Kraak was active for Stormvogels from IJmuiden. He occasionally also played as an attacker for them, scoring one goal in 1954. Later that same year Kraak switched to Elinkwijk (Utrecht). Kraak had held various jobs throughout his playing career, ranging from policeman to tavern owner, but after retirement as a player, he took to coaching. After an unsuccessful stint coaching 2nd division team Velox (Utrecht), he turned to Denmark, where he headed Aalborg BK and Holbæk B&I, among others. In 1981, he was admitted to a hospital with arithmia. After more than two years suffering from a near-coma, he passed away in 1984.
