Moses Effiong was a Nigerian football goalkeeper who played during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Domestically Effiong played for the Shooting Stars, with them winning the Nigerian FA Cup in 1979 and the league title in 1980. He was also part of the Nigerian national team that won the 1980 African Cup of Nations. Later the same year he competed at the Moskva Olympics, playing in Nigeria’s 1–1 draw with Czechoslovakia in the group stage.
Effiong then played for the short-lived club New Nigerian Bank, winning the West African Club Championship in 1983 and 1984. He remained involved in football throughout his life becoming a coach at Akwa United, helping the team win the Nigerian FA Cup in 2015 and 2017, and the league title in 2021. Effiong later lived in the United States, where he died aged 65 in January 2025.
