Bujor Hălmăgeanu played football for Romania at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Hălmăgeanu was a defender who started his youth career with Victoria Timișoara. He later played for Politehnica Timişoara from 1958-61, but had his greatest success with Steaua Bucureşti from 1961-73. With Steaua he won the Romanian League in 1967/68 and played on six Romanian Cup winners (1962, 1966-67, 1969-71). He finished his career in 1973/74 with one year with Dinamo Slatina. Hălmăgeanu was capped 22 times in his international career. He later became a football manager, spending a few years managing ASA Târgu Mureş, Steaua Bucureşti, and Dacia Unirea Brăila.
