Defender Holger Hansson played his entire career from 1946-61 with one club – IFK Göteborg. During his 15 seasons with IFK Göteborg, Hansson played in 254 games, scored nine goals and won the Swedish title in 1958. Internationally Hansson was capped nine times with the Swedish national team between 1952-56. The high point of his career was probably at the 1952 Olympics, where Hansson played in the first round, quarter-final and semi-final matches and the Swedish team went on to win a bronze medal. After finishing his sporting career, Hansson worked as a football coach. He was head coach of IFK Göteborg from 1961-62 and in 1974 and was head coach of GAIS from 1965-67 and 1970-72.
