Lindsay Davenport

Lindsay Davenport came from an athletic family as her father, Wink Davenport, played volleyball for the United States at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. Lindsay competed at the 1996 and 2000 Olympics in tennis singles, winning the gold in 2000, and played doubles in 2008. She played on the WTA Tour from 1993-2010, winning 55 singles tournaments, 38 doubles events, and made it to the world #1 ranking in October 1998. She also reached the world #1 ranking in doubles in 1997.

Davenport won three Grand Slam singles titles, at the US Open in 1998, Wimbledon in 1999, and the Australian Open in 2000. She also won doubles titles at the French Open (1996), Wimbledon (1999), and the US Open (1997). Davenport won the WTA Tour Finals in 1999 in singles and in doubles in 1996-98. At WTA Tier I events, she won 11 singles titles and 14 doubles titles.

After retiring as a player, Davenport did commentary on televised tennis events for the Tennis Channel. She also began coaching top level players, notably among them Madison Keys. Davenport is a member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island.
