Lillian Scharman was a top US tennis player in the 1920s, ranking #4 in the US in 1923 and 1924. She played Wimbledon in 1924, losing in round one to Helen Wills, and making the mixed quarter-finals alongside Frank Hunter. After 1924 she was never at the top level again, as Wills became the best player in the game, and Scharman could never beat her. She married, becoming Lillian Hester, and in 1935 was ranked #9 in the US Eastern Association under that name.
