Biography

Josè Vidal was an all-around defensive player, appearing at fullback, centre-half and wing-half as needed. A kingpin of Uruguay’s Olympic victory in 1924, with the national team he played seven matches, with a goal, the first, in the 7-0 against Yugoslavia in Paris. With the Celeste jersey he also won two Copa America (1923-24). Domestically, he spent most of his career with Montevideo’s Club Atlético Belgrano.
