Joy Fawcett was a defender who played football (soccer) for the US at three Olympics, winning golds in 1996 and 2004, and a silver medal in 2000. Fawcett also played at four FIFA World Cups, helping the USA win the title in 1991 and 1999, and winning bronze medals in 1995 and 2003. Fawcett earned 241 caps during her international career and was on the US National Team from 1987-2004.
Fawcett played soccer in college at U Cal Berkeley, where she made All-American three times and set the school single-season scoring record in 1987 with 23 goals. Fawcett played professionally in Europe with Ajax and later played for the San Diego Spirit. She became a soccer coach, coaching UCLA from 1993-97. Fawcett was inducted into the US Soccer Hall of Fame in 2009.
