John Duffy played in the American Soccer League (ASL) from 1925-30, starting with the Philadelphia Field Club. He later moved on, successively, to the Newark Skeeters, New York Nationals, New York Giants, Brooklyn Wanderers, and finishing his career with the New York Soccer Club. Duffy earned two caps for the United States national team, playing in the 1928 Olympic match against Argentina, and after the Olympics, in a friendly against Poland, which ended in a 3-3 tie.
