Cobi Jones

Cobi Jones played college soccer (football) at UCLA from 1988-91. He then joined the US national team, playing with them from 1992-2004, earning 164 caps and scoring 15 international goals as a midfielder. At his retirement he was the all-time leader in caps for the United States. In addition to his 1992 Barcelona Olympics appearance, Jones played for the USA at the 1994, 1998, and 2002 FIFA World Cups, and also played for the winning side at the 2002 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

In 1994 Jones was signed to play for Coventry City in the English Premier League. He played there in 1994/95 and then joined the Brazilian team Vasco da Gama. In 1996 he joined Major League Soccer (MLS) and played with the Los Angeles Galaxy from 1996-2007, helping them win MLS title in 2002 and 2005.

After his playing retirement Jones became an assistant coach for the Galaxy from 2007-10. In January 2011 he became associate director of soccer for the New York Cosmos of MLS. That same year he was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.
