Biography

Mike Windischmann played college soccer at Adelphi University. After college he joined the Brooklyn Italians of New York’s Cosmopolitan Soccer League. He later played for the Los Angeles Lazers of the Major Indoor Soccer League in 1988-89, and finished his professional career with the Albany Capitals of the American Professional Soccer League in 1989-90.

Internationally Windischmann played for the US from 1984-90, earning 50 caps. He played for the US at the 1985 U-16 World Cup, and also played for the US that year at the Universiade. He again played at the Universiade in 1987, along with playing at the 1987 Pan American Games. After the 1988 Olympics, Windischmann played at the 1990 FIFA World Cup, where he captained the US team. He also played at the World Futsal Championships in 1989 and 1992.

Windischmann is a member of the Adelphi University Athletic Hall of Fame and in 2004 was inducted into the US Soccer Hall of Fame. He later became a teacher and soccer coach in New York City.
