Serbian footballer Milutin Šoškić won a gold medal with the Yugoslavian football squad at the 1960 Rome Olympics and a silver medal at the European Championships the same year. In 1962 Šoškić participated in the World Championships and was named the best goalkeeper of the tournament. From 1959-66 he won 50 international caps.
Šoškić played at club level with Crvena zvezda, Beograd (Red Star Belgrade) from 1955-66, winning four national titles and one national cup. He then moved to Germany to 1. FC Köln from 1966-71, winning the German Cup in 1968. He later turned to coaching in Yugoslavia and then moved to the United States, becoming chief national goalkeeping coach in 1993, guiding the national team at the 1994, 1998, and 2002 World Cup. He retired in 2006 and died in August 2022 at the age of 84 years.
