George Brokaw was entered in the 1904 individual golf event but did not start. He was the brother of Irving Brokaw, the first American to compete in a Winter Olympic event when he started in 1908 figure skating.
George Brokaw graduated from Princeton in 1901, and then earned a law degree from New York Law School in 1911. In 1923, he married Clare Boothe, later Clare Boothe Luce, but they would divorce. She later married Henry Luce, the publisher of Time, Life, Fortune, and Sports Illustrated magazines. For his second marriage he wed Frances Ford Seymour, an heiress who after George’s death, married Henry Fonda, and was the mother of Jane and Peter Fonda. Brokaw was from a wealthy family and lived most of his life in the Brokaw Mansion in Manhattan.
