Eubotas had received an oracular prophecy that he would win an Olympic victory in the stadion race. He thus had his victory statue made prior to his victory in 408 BCE. When he won he was able to dedicate his victory statue on the same day. He later won the tethrippon event at Olympia in 364 BCE. The officials in 364 BCE did not recognize this victory in the tethrippon, stating that the Arkadians who had officiated the race were not qualified to do so.
