Biography

Described as a giant of Yugoslav basketball, Nemanja Đurić represented the national team for nine years, playing 138 matches and scoring 1,400 points. Đurić began his domestic career with Crvena zvezda in 1955 before joining KK Radnički the following year, spending the next ten seasons with the club. In 1967 he played one season with the Italian club Noalex Venezia before returning to play for Crvena zvezda. His second stint with the club saw Đurić win his only domestic title, winning the Yugoslav League in the 1968–69 season.

With the national team Đurić represented Yugoslavia at two Olympic Games (1960, 1964), two World Championships, and four editions of the European Championships. He won silver at the World Championships in 1963 and 1967, along with silvers at the European Championships in 1961 and 1965, and a bronze at the 1963 tournament. Đurić was also part of the team that won gold at the 1959 Mediterranean Games in Beirut.

Following his playing career Đurić became the assistant coach at Crvena Zvezda, helping the team to win the 1974 European Cup Winners’ Cup. One year later he became the team’s head coach, which saw them win the Yugoslav Cup in 1975.
