Lucy Desmond was a member of the Northampton Polytechnic Women’s Gymnastics Club that won the inaugural national women’s team title in 1923. She never won an individual national title but was third in 1927 when Bradford’s Carrie Pickles won her first title. Pickles and Desmond were both members of the Great Britain team that won the bronze medal at the Amsterdam Olympics the following year.
