Birgit Süß was a member of the bronze medal winning East German women’s gymnastics team at the 1980 Moskva Olympics. Individually she failed to reach a final. At the 1978 and 1981 World Championships she also won team bronze medals. Süß later studied medicine and became manager of a laboratory diagnosis center at Hettstedt.
