Matylda Šínová joined the Czechoslovakian national gymnastic team in 1951 and the following year won a bronze medal with her country in the team all-around at the Helsinki Olympics. Individually, her best finish was 25th on the balance beam. She also took part in the 1956 and 1960 Games, winning another medal in the team all-around, silver, at the latter edition. In-between, having become Matylda Matoušková, she was also a silver medalist in that event at the 1958 World Championships. She retired from active competition in 1962 and later married three-time Olympic gymnast Zdeněk Růžička.
Matoušková-Šínová studied teaching and physical education at Masaryk University in Brno, eventually earning a PhD in 1970. She worked as an assistant professor at that institution from 1964 through her retirement in 1998 and was also involved in coaching.
