Biography

Martti Mansikka had his greatest success as a gymnast at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, where he won a bronze medal with the Finnish team. Individually, his best result was joint-10th with three other competitors in the floor exercise. He then won three Finnish titles in 1957, as well as the Nordic championship with the Finnish team. His final major international competition was the 1958 World Championships, where he just missed a medal in the team all-around by placing fourth. He later worked as a coach and received the Golden Cross of Merit for his work in 1994. He was also recognized by the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2016.
