Biography

Puerto Rican basketball official Calvin Pacheco spent more than 40 years of his career officiating in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional league. Pacheco earned high praise, including being named the best referee at two editions of the FIBA World Cup (1967, 1970). In addition to being one of the referees at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, he also officiated at multiple international tournaments, including the Pan American Games (1971, 1979), and the Central American and Caribbean Games (1966, 1970, 1974, 1982). Pacheco was one of the founding members of the Puerto Rico College of Referees, which later became known as the Puerto Rico Referees Association.
