German gymnast Mario Franke was on the reunified team that finished a surprising fourth at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Individually he came 50th and did not advance to an apparatus final. His best result was the 13th place on the rings. In 1993, he collected his only national titles on the parallel bars and the rings. Franke later turned to coaching and became Regional Coach at the Hessian Gymnastics Association.
