Gymnast Richard Genserowski finished 54th at the 1900 Paris Olympics in the individual all-around. He was born in Berlin and emigrated to the United States soon after his Olympic participation. He worked as a physical education instructor in Chicago for six years, before accepting a similar position in Portland, Oregon in 1908.
Genserowski was a physical education director for Portland Social Turnverein for more than 30 years before retiring in 1940. He was also active in the Portland Rose Festival Association that organizes the Portland Rose Festival, a civic festival held during the month of June in Portland that has been held annually since 1888.
