Biography

West German gymnast Günter Lyhs finished seventh with the team in the all-around event and 26th in the individual all-around at the 1960 Roma Olympic Games. He did not advance to any of the individual finals, nor did he do so four years later. In 1964 at Tokyo he earned a bronze medal with the team, while finishing 29th individually. He was later awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, the highest sports award in West Germany. Lyhs earned 19 West German national titles between 1960 and 1967. By profession, he owned a sports shop in Kierspe together with his wife Renate.
