François Wagner represented the club Société de Gymnastique from the capital’s district of Grund. At the first national trials in January 1912, he placed 14th. After the final trials in June, Wagner was one of 16 gymnasts selected for the Olympics. At the Olympic Games in Stockholm, the team from Luxembourg, including Wagner, placed fifth and last in the free system team event but missed bronze by less than one point in the European system team event.
Wagner was a mechanic who sold bicycles and motorcycles. Later, he added firearms, hunting supplies, and the production of hunting cartridges to his business. The company remained in operation until at least 1948.
