Handball player Iris Morhammer qualified with Austria for the 1992 Barcelona and 2000 Sydney Summer Olympics. On both occasions the team finished fifth. In total, she won 237 international caps and scored 663 goals. Internationally, Morhammer won two bronze medals, at the 1996 European Championships, and 1999 Worlds.
Morhammer played at club level with Hypo Niederösterreich, helping them to win the European Champions Cup 1992-95, and the Austrian national title 1992-97 and 1999-2000. Morhammer was inducted into the European Handball Federation Hall of Fame in 2023.
