Handball player Nicole Peissl qualified with Austria for the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics. The team finished fifth. In total, she won 120 international caps and scored 663 goals. Peissl was also on the teams finishing fifth at both the 1990 and 1995 World Championships.
Peissl played at club level with Hypo Niederösterreich, helping them to win the European Champions Cup in 1990, 1992, and 1995. Due to injuries, she retired after the 1995 season.
Peissl turned to coaching and coached Union Korneuburg from 2000-02. She then moved to Bad Vöslau coaching youth teams. Peissl was the daughter-in-law of coaching legend Gunnar Prokop and Liese Sykora-Prokop, and sister-in-law of their daughter Karin Prokop. Peissl was married and raised three children.
