Forward Ferdinand Kiefler was a member of the Austrian field handball team that won the silver medal at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. He played four matches during the tournament. Domestically, Kiefler played with Ferrowatt Wien (Vienna). He was killed in action in 1945 during the closing weeks of World War II at Liblar near Köln (Cologne).
