Troy Glaus was a power hitting third baseman who played in the Major Leagues from 1998-2010, after playing baseball at UCLA. He played some first base later in his career, and frequently was used as a designated hitter. Glaus also won a bronze medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics with the USA team.
Glaus started out with the Anaheim Angels, as the third overall pick of the 1997 MLB draft, and played with them from 1998-2004. His best season was 2000 when he hit 47 home runs. He hit another 40 in 2001 and had five major league seasons with over 30 dingers. Glaus was traded by the Angels after the 2004 season to the Arizona Diamondbacks, with whom he played one season. He later played for the Toronto Blue Jays (2006-07), St. Louis Cardinals (2008-09), and finished his career with one season with the Atlanta Braves in 2010.
Glaus ended his MLB career with 320 home runs, had 950 RBIs, a batting average of .254, and an OPS of .847. He played in four All-Star Games (2000-01, 2003, 2006), and won a World Series in 2002 with the Angels, being named MVP of the World Series. He led the American League in home runs in 2000 with his 47, and won the Silver Slugger Award in 2000 and 2001.
