Jacque Jones

Jacque Jones was an outfielder who played in college for Southern Cal, making first-team All-American in 1994. Jones was drafted in the second round of the 1996 MLB draft by the Minnesota Twins. He played with the USA National team at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, winning a bronze medal, and joined the Twins farm organization.

Jones played for the Twins from 1999-2005 and then was traded to the Chicago Cubs, with whom he played for two seasons. He finished his career in 2008, playing that year for both the Detroit Tigers and the Florida Marlins. Jones ended his major league career with a batting average of .277, with 165 home runs, and 630 RBIs. In 2009 and 2010 he signed minor league contracts with the Cincinnati Reds (2009) and Minnesota Twins (2010), but could not get back to the majors.

After his playing career ended, Jones was a minor league hitting coach, first in 2012 for the Class A Fort Wayne TinCaps, then in 2013 with the Double-A San Antonio Missions, and in 2014 with the AAA El Paso Chihuahuas. In 2016 he returned to the majors as an assistant hitting coach for the Washington Nationals, but was released after the 2017 season.
