Denny Fercho grew up playing handball with the Ventura County Condors in California. He went to college at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, where he played on the US National Team, first joining it in 1989. In addition to his 1996 Olympic appearance he played at the 1994 Goodwill Games and Pan American Championships, and in 1995, he competed at the Pan American Games and the World Championships. Fercho later went into the construction business, owning and operating Condor Construction of Georgia in the Atlanta area.
