Biography

Regarded as one of the greatest Argentine rowers of all time Guillermo Segurado had an incredible career that saw him win a record 164 regattas. Segurado joined the Rosario Regatta Club in 1963 where he spent the next 20 years of his life competing. His first international competition came in 1965 in Brazil before he won silver in the coxed fours at the 1967 Pan American Games in Winnipeg. A year later he was part of the coxed fours that finished eighth at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. Segurado had his best international success in 1971 when he won gold in the coxless pairs and eights at the Pan American Games. His excellent form earned him another place on Argentina’s Olympic team, this time for the 1972 München Games. The eight crew, however, finished a disappointing 11th. By 1983 Segurado had retired from active competition to become a rowing coach.
