Philippe Fauveau was a member of the French national rowing team from 1947 through 1950 and finished fourth in the World Championships in the eights three consecutive years from 1947 through 1949. In-between, he represented his country at the 1948 London Olympics in that event, where he was last in his heat in round one and did not start in the repêchage.
He later became involved in sports administration and was the founder and first president of the Association des Internationaux d’Aviron from 1994 and 2004. He was chosen as an ambassador for the 2024 Paris Olympics, but died before the Games began.
