Réno Lotti was born in Bry-sur-Marne. An active member of the US Métro rowing club quartet, he had the second seat on the successful coxed fours squad that won a national championship. Selected to represent France at the 1948 London Olympic Games, the French quartet was eventually eliminated in the semi-final, falling to the eventual gold medallists from the United States. He competed once again at the European Championships in 1949 and served for a brief time in the military with Ier Régiment du Train in Montlhéry. Lotti also rowed at the 1951 European Championships, 1952 Henley Royal Regatta and at the 1955 Mediterranean Games in Barcelona, winning bronze with the French eights squad in the latter. His older brother Aldo was active in water sports and competed in swimming.
