Biography

Michael Delahooke was educated at University College School, Hampstead, before going to Jesus College, Cambridge in 1954. A keen rower, he was a fine sculler when he first went to Cambridge, but became very much part of their eights crew and in 1956 was stroke to the winning Cambridge eight as he won his first Blue. Also in 1956, Delahooke went to the Melbourne Olympics with the Great Britain eight but they were eliminated in the first round repêchage. He won a second BIue in 1957 when he rowed at number six in the winning team again.

After leaving University, Delahooke went into the brewery business, working eventually with the Watney, Mann and Truman company and becoming one of the main board of directors before eventually becoming the deputy managing director.
